Sam & Fred’s Printer Predicament–Part II
Sam was sanding down the final hairpin curve of the new marble roller he was building when his phone rang.
“Hi,” Fred’s voice boomed. “Miss Miller’s fed up with the new printer. I think we jumped the gun on that machine.”
Sam flushed. Fred could be a little uptight sometimes.“What’s the issue?” he asked.
“She can’t print on both sides automatically. It’s so unhandy.”
“How about I give Think Ink a call tomorrow morning?” Sam offered.
“Sure, but good luck,” Fred said. “They’ll probably put you on hold for hours or make excuses for the problem.”
When Sam arrived at school the next morning, he saw that Fred had beaten him to it. The old Staples® printer was chugging away. Sam shuddered, picturing the funds draining out of their budget.
Sam called Think Ink. A friendly voice answered immediately. “I’m Will. Yes, your printer should have that capability. If not, that’s a manufacturing defect. You’ll get your money back since it has a 3-year warranty. Let’s check it out,” he said.
Will walked Sam through all the settings. “Yup, right there. Now tap that box beside ‘Double-Sided Printing.’ Press ‘Save.’ Voila!”
“Well, that was easy!” said Sam with relief.
“Tell you what,” the Think Ink assistant said. “With this being your first printer of this kind, I want to make sure you can make the most of it. I’ll stop in after school today to give the teachers a free tutorial.”
“Awesome!” Sam exclaimed.
“Awesome!” Sam exclaimed.
That afternoon, Will gave Sam and the faculty a tour of their new printer.
“Wow!” Miss Miller cried. “I didn’t know you could print on such huge paper. That’s perfect for my poster project!”
“And I can scan and email my progress charts to the parents with just one click!” another delighted teacher added.
At the end of the year, Sam gave each teacher an envelope with ten crisp $20 bills inside. “Thanks to the new printer, we saved dramatically on ink costs. We wanted to treat you to an extra-special end-of-year gift! You all deserve it!”
